Yes. Respirators must create a tight seal against the face to provide effective protection. Facial hair such as beards or stubble can prevent the mask from sealing properly, allowing contaminated air to enter. For best protection, users should be clean-shaven where the mask seals.
Respirator cartridges are designed for specific hazards such as chemical vapours, sprays, gases, dust, or welding fumes. It is important to select the correct cartridge for your environment.

P2 filters capture at least 95% of airborne particles and are commonly used in general dusty environments.
P3 filters capture up to 99% of very fine particles and are recommended for heavy dust environments.
Cartridges should be stored in a sealed bag or container when not in use. If left exposed to the air, they will continue filtering contaminants from the environment, which can reduce their lifespan. Proper storage helps keep cartridges effective for longer.
Half mask respirators protect the nose and lungs from airborne contaminants and are suitable for environments without eye hazards.
